Autumn~Tree in front of farm house

Maple tree in front of our house, take just a few days ago before the rain set in again. Now sadly, most of the leaves are gone. Glad I snapped these before they were gone.

"Then summer fades and passes and October comes. We'll smell smoke then, and feel an unexpected sharpness, a thrill of nervousness, swift elation, a sense of sadness and departure."

I found this in a newsletter from Lehman's, this store is wonderful! Amish type, non-electric, store all kinds of wonderful things for your home. Just received a hand grinder for our Red Flint corn to make cornmeal.
The store is located in Kidron, Ohio.....I would love to go there and look at all the great things they have. It's only a few hours drive from our home, maybe someday!

Such gorgeous pictures of your foliage, Jane. Thank you for posting these. The trees in my area are still mostly green but the weather is horrible. Cold, dreary and rainy. I hunger for the sun. But one neighbor has a tree that's turning a beautiful red. It feeds my soul.

Beautiful photographs Jane same thing happens here no sooner than they turn colour and the rain and wind come and take them away.

Jane ~ that tree was spectacular!! We have beautiful color here in Ohio ~ no need to drive to the East coast for fall foliage!!
Lehman's is a great place ~ you can spend a lot of time there ~ years ago, we bought a soapstone stove there for our other house ~ now it's just small things ~ you should definitely plan a trip there!!

JoJo, you are welcome! The trees add so much to the dreary days of late autumn. Today it's very dreary and damp; makes my bones ache!

Elizabeth, thanks, I think last weekend was a perfect day for driving in the countryside to see all the leaves. I fear they are just a memory now though.

Alice, oh, a soapstone stove!!! Lucky you, I have always wanted one but not sure where we would put it? Maybe, maybe next month I can talk Mike into taking a day trip and going to Lehman's....probably had better take the truck????? LOL

Really beautiful pictures Jane. We have 3 gorgeous bright red ones infront of the store where I work. I keep forgetting to take my camera.

Oh yeah, you have to get pics of the fall color changes quick. I rarely see those vibrant colors for longer than a week each year.

Marilyn, thank you, yes it is lovely to look out the door and see such gorgeous color. Paintings by Mother Nature!!!

Katharine, yep, we got color here!!!

Lisa, oh, yes to check out Lehman's they have such neat stuff there!

Dusty Devoe, oh, yes, take your camera with you to get the pix before the leaves are gone!

Nuz Muz, you have to be quick for sure! When you see the colors you had better start clicking away because it could rain and knock them all off the next day or even that afternoon.

The colors in that tree are absolutely breathtaking. How gorgeous!!

I was at Lehman's once or twice when I lived in Ohio. We would make the Amish country trek at least once every summer. Always found neat things down there. :)

That is SENSATIONAL. I did not think they made trees that color in nature but I guess they do!!

Love these pictures!!! My husband and I just went on a two-day road trip looking at the foliage. Not sure we saw anything this pretty.

Enjoyed my visit and will be back.

Why don't you come over soon and share a fav dessert recipe with us. We are in the mood for some baking.
