Good ride, cat bite, birthday, hooked rug....

I have been absent because this PMR stuff (yes, I have the Polymyalgia Rheumatica too) is kicking my ass!!! With all the rain we have had is aggravating it also and every time the meds are changed, we are stepping back every 2 weeks.
I did get in a couple of rides, (sorry no riding pictures). Rode on May 10th and Gilly and I had a good ride; just the easy stuff. We worked on leg yields, turns on the forehand, haunches; I felt really good that day and he did well, we also just rode, back the hollow to the fence line, up and down the road.
I rode again on Sunday and it wasn't a good ride, I didn't feel very good, couldn't seem to stay balanced and Gilly felt it too, so he was having a hard time doing what I ask of him. I don't blame him though, he seems to pick up on my feelings when I have off days.

This past Monday, May 17th, was my 59th birthday....I can't believe that next year I will be....oh, my, I don't even want to say it.....60!!!!! How can that be??? Wasn't I just 39 last year??? Well, apparently NOT!
Anyway, this horse plate was a gift from my neighbor and horsey friend Kim. She had been a little second hand store and had seen some boxer plates, she has a really nice boxer, Sohpie. She found two plates with boxers on them and then found this horse plate. She said she just had to get it cause it looked like Gilly! The star is the same but no blaze but still it does resemble Gil. What a nice gift!!!

(picture of evil cat above)

Thursday morning I was sitting here on the couch looking at my computer. Kitty was bumping her head on my hand as it was hanging over the arm of the couch. I was petting her and all of a sudden the little devil bit the heck out of my hand!!! BAD KITTY!!! She always has been a biter, definitely NOT a nice kitty. Her only good point is that she is a very good mouser.
Well, I just wiped the blood off the top of my hand and (this is bad) didn't even wash my hand or put anything on it. Thought it didn't look very bad, got ready and went to town to do shopping and such. Well, Friday morning it was pretty swollen and very red so I went to a quick care place. Had to get a tetanus shot and a huge amount of antibiotics to take for a week. Still have two more days to take it then it will be all gone.
Went back to my regular doctor on Wednesday for a follow up and he said it looked good. It is still very sore and has a knot the size of a dime that is hard. When she bit down it felt like she hit the bone. Cat is fast using up her 9 lives!!! :-(

This is the Hess rug that I have been working on. I am pretty slow, hands have been bothering me too. I am not in any hurry to get it done and this is the first time I have seen the rug off the frame in awhile. Not sure if I like the colors in some of the leaves and may have to redo some of it. But I will wait until I have it finished, then study the colors. It always seems to help to have a picture of it to look at and study instead of the rug itself, not sure just why that is?
I do need to get this one finished and on to something else. Still want to do a little dog mat for a giveaway! :-D
I will try to keep my posting more current so Lisa won't have to get after me! LOL

Well Happy Birthday Jane! I'm glad you've been getting some rides in in-spite of feeling not so well.

I hope you feel better soon!

Ohh and I LOVE that rug!

My Grandmother had PMR a few years ago. The good thing is that it eventually goes away. I believe she dealt with it about 1 1/2 years. Yes, it is very painful.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia several years ago. Wow. Did my life change! I go into Fibro Flares every few months. Intense pain, increased insomnia (more than usual)where for a couple of weeks I will only sleep a couple hours a night. Lots of stomach issues. I had to stop riding at this point. It is enough most days for me to get my barn done!

I do hope you have a good doc! Are you seeing a Rheumatologist?

Happy birthday, Jane!! And remember-you are whatever age you feel! So you are 39 :)
Sorry about the kitty bite! Ouch!!
I have been there too.

You have such talent. Your rugs are works of art. Truly.

JeniQ, thanks, if it would stop raining I might get in a few more rides!

from my front porch, yes, I do have a very good Rheumatoidlogist, my husband also has PMR but his is much worse than mine. So sorry that you have fibromyalgia, it sounds so much worse than PMR!!! At least this will eventually go away.
Well, my mind might be 39 but the body says, no way! :-(

I am posting this for Kacy and Dusty Devoe because the posts are gone. I clicked on the to post but they didn't....what the heck is up with that?????
Dusty Devoe said:,Happy Birthday! Wish we could get some rides in. Dusty is lame right now. Had the vet out. He says it's his front feet. But his hip is giving him issues too right now. He is on rest. He does get to go in his turnout and I can walk him for ten minutes. Of course I get to still love on him!!! Hope you are feeling better soon.

Oh, we are ten years apart..either my friends are ten years younger or ten years older..the same age, I rarely get on with!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY again!!!
Glad you got to ride your Gilly boy! Yea, when i don't feel yup to par..I know the mare feels that.
...it has been a week for me now..RAIN and WIND and sounds like it is going around everywhere.
Makes me wanna look for a place with an arena again...hummm.

Darned cat! I am so sorry...sometimes they are JUST PILLS! There is only one mouth WORSE than a cat...did the Dr, tell you that? It's OURS!
Your rug looks so wonderful and take it easy...I too have been having hand/arm/shoulder probs due to overuse. I should count it a blessing that it is raining...forced rest!

Love you, glad you came out of your blog hiding place and caught us all up!
Take care sweet,
XOXO

Happy Birthday Jane! We are the same age (mine's in Feb). I suffer from Fibro which is similar to what you have in results. Hope you are seeing a good Rheumatoid doctor. I've got a cat who would like to be a bitter, we pretty much have gotten her over it although there are days I can tell by the expression on her face she would LOVE to chomp down on us. Love the rug! I think the colors are so beautiful, especially the horse!

hahaha! That Pokey picture cracked me up. I think he was singing, "Happy Birthday to Jane!!! Heeehaawww!" lol!

That rug is gorgeous. I like the colors of the leaves. They have a sort of cool flavor instead of warm. Realyl sets off the horse well, I think.
Maybe you should do a give-a-way of a chiweenie dog rug design....hint-hint. heehee!

It's great that you and Gilly got in some rides together. Even the not so great rides teach us something, both about ourselves and our horses and our relationship with them.

How weird that your evil kitty bites you and then my evil rooster spurs me. We're a mess, aren't we? :)

I love when you post, so don't stop, k? :)

Hope you had a great birthday, Jane.

I had to have some bloodwork done that required I not take any sort of pain reliever for a whole week. Good grief, I was practically creaking.

I love those colors!!

Happy Birthday Jane. I know just how you feel, I'll be hitting the same number in July. Where did the time go?

That is one bad kitty, hope you feel better all around. It's nice you got to ride I'm sure as soon as you're feeling better there will be a summer full of great rides. Your rug is beautiful, I like all the colors they blend beautifully. I don't know how you do it with your pain. Feel better.

Dusty Devoe, thanks, oh, I hope Dusty is better soon! No fun having a lame pony! Oh, yes, lovin' on them is great, we can do that any time!!! :-D

Kacy, thanks for the birthday wishes! I sometimes wish my body was 10 years younger...LOL
Yes, cats have terribly dirty bites, I have been told they care some form of bacteria that our bodies can't fend off. hum, maybe Kitty needs false teeth! LOL

Gail, I shouldn't complain about this PMR, from what you and others describe the Fibromyalgia is far worse than what I have. I am seeing a good Rheumatoid doctor. Kitty is a bad cat, maybe I should have a spray bottle of water around to fend her off!
Thanks for the compliments on the rug, yes, I too love the colors the horse turned out.

Lisa, yes, he was singing but it was hey when is my birthday so I can have some apple, carrot, oat and homey cake!!!
Chiweenie dog, now that is funny, I will have to draw up one. How is the little Doobie girl, you haven't posted any pictures of her of late???
Lessons from the horse are always good, that is if we, the human, will listen.
Oh, yes, bad cats and bad roosters.

Leah, creaking, oh, that's a good one! Thanks for the wishes and compliments!

Blackfeatherfarm, thank you!

Alice, yea, that was the week that was alright! Young??? LOL

Grey Horse Matters, boy, you said it, time flies! Once you are out of high school, in the blink of an eye time flies by, amazing!
I am hoping for lots of good rides this summer! Thanks!
