Snake....

Started to let Gonzo outside the other morning and saw him jump up in the air! Thought what the heck is the matter with him? Then I saw this little guy on the patio. Pretty markings but I have no idea what kind of snake it is. He was at least a foot and a half long. He wasn't very happy with me when I picked him up by the tail........I had to, to keep him from crawling under a bench. I wanted to get some pictures of him.
He was giving me the evil eye here as I got really close up to his face. I got some pictures of him with his tongue out but they were blurred so I 'm not using them. What beautiful colors his is!
If anyone knows what kind of snake he is let me know.

Hi Rus, hey, he was a pretty boy, huh? I'm glad he wasn't poisonous cause I was out on the patio in my bare feet! Hope someone posts just what kind of snake he is.
Love the new pix you have on your blog, wild eyes!

Jen and Pam,
I was so intent on getting a picture of the snake and he was getting away; I just reached down and grabbed his tail to move him back in camera range. He wasn't too happy about it but......
Oh, I'll have him tamed by the time you two get here! LOL

Russ, thanks for finding out what kind of snake it was. I still think he was a pretty boy or girl? How would you know?

I have a friend who is really into snakes. I can show it to him and perhaps find out. Of course the snake is east coast and we are west coast so it may remain a mystey (at least on our end). He is a beauty though.

Milk Snake. Harmless, beautiful, often killed around here by people who think it looks like a copperhead.

Julie, thanks for the info. He doesn't even come close to looking like a copperhead, wonder how people could think that? I thought he was quite handsome, for a snake that is! LOL He is welcome in my yard anytime!
