Had a pretty nice ride today about an hour long. It's been so rainy, gloomy and overcast that I almost didn't ride. The weather has been so rainy and stormy that we haven't gotten our first cutting of hay in. It doesn't look good for the coming week either. I thought a nice ride would make me feel better about it.
First we headed back the hollow on our property (all of these pictures were taken last week but I can't take pictures of myself soooo, I cheated a bit!)
Then we headed down the road, Lucy and Gonzo were tagging along also. Pokey couldn't go so he was mad, as usual. We rode past Kim's house and Lacy and Coco came running out to see Gilly. I let him stop to sniff noses and say hi to the girls, when we went on down the road. He is getting better only hesitated a couple of times and wanted to go back. We went quite a way down the road before turning to come back toward home. The ground here is so wet that Gilly's feet are a little tender and he didn't want to walk much on the gravel road. I let him walk on the grassy shoulder.
He needed a drink from the creek on the way back; licking the water off his lips.

Glad you didn't get rained out and were able to ride today, Jane! I wasn't, but I have every intention of making up for it this weekend.

Sounds like a great ride! I hear you on the rain! That is why I don't get to ride most of the fall, winter and spring! We have been lucky here, in the 90's. Today a much more comfortable low 70's!
Oh! I just enjoyed your photos and story about your ride so much.
Thanks so much. You and Gilly looked great together. And I agree with Kacy about Gilly's cute tongue. hehe!

Sarah, yes, it's wonderful riding through the woods, even on the road there are lots of trees hanging overhead.
Dusty Devoe, I am trying to ride everyday if it's not raining. It's good for Gilly and me too, love it!!!
Katharine, I got to ride again today too and hoping for a good day tomorrow for another ride.
Kacy, I am having a great time riding everyday, my legs are feeling much better too, they were so sore from not riding enough! Ride, ride, ride!!! LOL Gilly loves to play in the water!
Paint Girl, yes, the rain is a pain. There is still so much mud around here and it makes Gilly's feet soft and makes it hard for him to walk on the rocks of the road. I am thinking of getting him some hoof boots until things get better.
Lisa, thanks, we aren't quite as adventurous as Kacy and Wa but it's fun and I always through in a little training in too.
Beautiful pictures, Jayne. I'm glad you decided to go for your ride, regardless of the rain. It's just been so hot and humid here, I break a sweat just stepping outside the door. But your ride looks like it was refreshing. Poor Pokey, left all alone. I guess he just needs to learn that there are times he's got to stay home.
Oh...for jsut starting out ..I DO think you are adventurous dearie! It took me 3 years befor i dared to ride wa bare back..and I only did cause i had a bad ankle and had walked her too too far on foot to try and walk back..so it was slefish and I tied the traing stick on her neck to keep myself on of she bucked !
Yessss coe and see me and we shall horse camp and ride all my favorite haunts!Wa will love Gilly man..he seems to be like Romeo in atributes!
Kac
