Gilly's new bit

Here is a picture of the bit I got for Gilly. It has a center piece that is supposed to be good the mouthy horses; gives them something to do with their tongue. Gilly has only had it on once and he was chewing and mouthing it to get the feel of it. I hope that it makes his mouth a little quieter but we will see.

I don't know if the small center of the bit picture is big enough to see what it really looks like. If you click on it, it should show it larger.
Here is the info that came with the bit; I think I am going to like it!

The latest breakthrough innovation from Herm Sprenger, the WH Ultra Bit takes the revolutionary KK Ultra technology to the next level. Developed in partnership with Lisa Wilcox and Ernst Hoyos, the mouthpiece is very similar to the KK Ultra with the addition of a smooth roller disk in the center. The slight up and down motion of the roller encourages the horse to "play" with it. Ideal for "busy" horses or those learning new skills. The bits incorporate all the science and research found in the Ultra Bits with the 'in the saddle' expertise of Lisa Wilcox and the world class training of Ernst Hoyos. WH bits are now FEI approved. Aurigan mouth. 70mm stainless steel rings. 5 1/8", 5 1/2", 6". (6" in 16mm only).

I am for anything that gives a horse something to "mouth" and play with. I have seen some great changes in horses who have been given a mouth toy!

Nice bit Jane!
I really like my KK Ultra. I came across it in the left- for- dead box at a former barn..shockingly, no one wanted it!
Mine is one metal as my mare has no-Problem salivating and frothing.
The only think aboutit is..my Wa has a very small mouth and I have found her with her tounge out to-ususally the left if the bit is not slightly smaller than my thumb.

I found you through All Horse Stuff....I too have the KK bits, and if you use one, they are the best. Frequently I ride with an English Hackamore and have been rethinking bits. All of our horses have used it at one time or another and they seem to do well. Of course, a lot depends on the rider's hands. I see that you are an artist...I am a retired art teacher. My Journal is quite similar to yours "my world in pictures." I am so hooked on photography now.

I haven't gotten to ride with the new bit on Gil yet; hopefully soon! He seems to enjoy it, the last bit I had was a Happy Mouth snaffle. He chewed a couple of places out of it, so I got this one. What a stinker! Sometimes I use the Bitless Bridle too and he does well with it. I can also ride him with just the Clinton Anderson knotted rope halter.
