Happy New Year....Blue Moon

Hope everyone has had a Happy New Year's day; with family and friends, good food and good times! We have just relaxed all day watching TV, Mike.....I have been playing on the computer all day! :-)

I tried to get a shot of the "Blue Moon" last night but it was not to be.....it was so overcast and foggy that the sky was just a sooty black/grey. The snow was visible but the cameras didn't want to be very co-operative. I got the above shot of our pine tree in the side yard and it has some ice crystals on the branches that sparkled in the night. I couldn't even coax Gil and Pokey Pie to come to the fence and try to get a picture of them. They were having nothing to do with me, they were busy out foraging for what they could find on the hillside.

Tonight it is still overcast and snowing here and still no moon. How sad, I really wanted to get some pictures of this rare event, won't happen again until 2028....will I be here to get shots of the moon then? What kind of cameras will we have then; interesting to think of where technology will be then.

Tracey at Mustang Diaries set up a group on Flickr called Blue Moon New Year's Eve you can go there and check out the pictures of the moon that others got....some are stunning!

To all of my readers, have a safe, healthy and prosperous new year!

Namaste,

You did way better with Tracey's blue moon thing than I did. I fell asleep and got nothing......the sky here was blanketed with thick clouds so there wasn't much to shoot anyway......but still, I'm a dud! LOL

Happy New Year, Jane!

Rising Rainbow, LOL, at one point I was ready to hit the hay too but somehow I stayed up until 1:30 but still not a sign of the moon.
Happy New Year to you also.

I will have to check out the blue moon pictures. I had no idea there really was such a thing -- I thought it was just a silly saying! Oh well.

We had a gorgeous full moon here, which Panama and I enjoyed quite a bit. Check out my post about ringing in the New Year.

We had a pretty relaxing day here too, although I did clean my desk for the first time in ages. I found a book on my desk and I've decided to do another book giveaway -- see this post for details:

Do you mind mentioning it on your blog? I'd love to get as many horse stories as possible. :o)

Yeah, what's up with the moon being covered?? Mother Nature is not playing our game! :) Seems like everyone is getting snow except for me! Boo-hoo! I'm not giving up until May, I swear! :)
Wishing you and your handsome Gilly a blessed 2010, Jan!

Kacy, even if Wa was jumpy you got to ride....it's way tooooo cold here to ride....boo-hoo...I do hope time goes quickly through the winter..not my favorite time of year. Gil had ice frozen into his long wooly hair this morning....it's 17 degrees!

Rising Rainbow, LOL...I to have done that, but of late I have been trouble sleeping...old age??? LOL

Paint Girl, Happy New Year to you!

Tracey, yes, we did try! I got up at 6 this morning and peeked out the window and low and behold there was the moon....late of course! I crawled back into bed. :-(

Katharine, the blue moon is no joke, I didn't really know what it meant either but just why it's called "blue" I don't know. Anyway it was hiding for me so I didn't get the shot. Pooy!
Your link is here for the book give away. I hope that everyone will write a story for you about a horse that touched their life. Sounds very interesting, will look forward to seeing the stories.

Pony Girl, Mother Nature was playing a trick on us. Hope you get some snow soon, or you could come here and enjoy it!

Sarah, Happy, Happy New Year to you!!

I feel so bad...I saw the blue moon but did not get a photo because my camera will not take moon shots. I have tried before and get spots all over the the photo!!! Happy New Year!
