The adventures of Gilly the rescue horse and his side kick and partner in crime, Pokey the donkey.

Morning Sunshine

Monday morning I moved Gilly and Pokey to the pasture across the creek to the back field. When I check the electric fence the voltage was way down, meaning the fence was down or something was on it. Since they were busy eating I walked around some of the fence by the building on this side of the creek. I found the bad spot, a deer had knocked the insulator off a post and it was snapping on the metal post. But as I looked back the hollow along the road I saw the sunlight streaming through the trees.
I went back to the house to get the camera. When I came back I captured this; Gilly and Pokey walking along side by side back the road to the shed and more grass. Well, the fence could wait, I didn't want to miss the beauty of the early morning sunshine.

I moved to another spot to take this picture, if you click on the picture to enlarge it you can see them back along the fence posts. I love looking at the sun light coming down like this, so beautiful.

One more! I crossed the creek to capture this one. A spider had been busy building a web on the old gate. There were many more there also but this one was the largest. The dew was sparkling on the heads of grass too, wish it would have shown up more.

Yesterday evening we cut hay, now the waiting begins and hoping that it doesn't rain before we get it dried and in the barn. Drying time is longer here in the hollow, but for now we have had a nice breeze and high temperatures all day.

Kacy, thanks for the idea, this picture says it all. Good friends side by side walking in the morning sun. Pokey loves his big friend, makes me so happy to see them enjoying each other. True friendship!

Elizabeth, thank you, it was a lucky shot!

Jacque, that little donkey has been so good for Gilly; he needed a friend after the cows left.

Absolutely LOVE the picture of Pokey & Gilly, especially on your header...Keep it there!!! They look like such Great Buds...

It is such a beautiful site when the morning rays of the sun come through the trees, also after a good rain.

Great Pics Jane...

Jane, you take such beautiful photos! If one didn't know any differently, someone might think you are a professional photographer!

As I just bought my first horse Wednesday evening, I think I need to spend more time on your blog. I might actually learn something. I'm off this afternoon to shop at the local tack place, since I need 'everything' to outfit my new friend. Much money will be spent. Pepper is an 11 year old paint quarterhorse mare and I can hardly wait to get her new bridle and saddle!

STUNNING! Brilliant photos!
I love 'em!

That's the true personality of a photographer...stopping everything when you see that the light is perfect...and the subjects would make for a beautiful photo. Yay you!

Hint on the spider web. To make it stand out more, get down low, lay down if you have to, and take your photo looking up, with the dark green trees as your background. That would make it pop!

OMG, congratulations on your horse purchase! Oh, how fun to be shopping for horse tack and accessories; I love buying horsey stuff! Yes, it does get pricey but oh, what fun!!!

cowgirljlynn, thank you!

Lisa, thanks, yes, when I saw the sunlight streaming through the trees I had to go get the camera, should have gotten the big canon too. I took the photos with the little canon, still pretty good. :-D
Oh, thanks for the tip on the cob web. I did squat down but not far enough, oh, my knees! LOL

Julie, thank you and you are welcome!

Desert Rose, thank you, glad Kacy said I should use it, good idea!
The hay is done and in the barn, no rain, beautiful weather for haying!
